Day 2
Athens Piraeus - Milos island
Papafragas beach
Welcome to one of the most beautiful islands of the Cyclades: Milos. The day is dedicated to discovering the colorful beaches of the island, overlooking the turquoise blue sea.
Milos is home to the unusual Papafragas beach. A sea cave, Papafragas Beach is a former pirate’s hideout. It overlooks crystal clear waters on one side and deep, dark caves on the other.
The other beaches of the island (Yerontas, Fyri, Plaka, Tsigkrado, Plathiena) are lined with volcanic rocks. Their reds and yellows give the island the wild and cheerful appearance that the first Dorians must have found here 3,000 years ago.
Adamas, the main port of Milos and a small seaside resort, is open in the evening for a stroll and dinner.
Breakfast included. Lunch and dinner on your own.
Overnight in Milos.
Day 3
Milos
Milos
A day at sea! Now it’s time to explore inaccessible beaches and uninhabited islands aboard a catamaran. Don’t forget that the ancient Greeks were sailors first!
If you feel like it, explore the large uninhabited island of Polyaigos. A secret jewel in the Aegean, Polyaigos is ideal for nature lovers. From the beginning, the island with its high cliffs presents a wild aspect. Once you disembark, you’ll be greeted by dense vegetation and an exceptionally rich flora and fauna. Reptiles, migratory birds and wild goats are easy to spot. Less easy to spot, but still possible, are the Mediterranean monk seals that hide in the sea caves along the coast.
Breakfast included. Lunch and dinner on your own.
Overnight in Milos.
Day 4
Discover the Catacombs and Chora castle
The Catacombs Milos
Built between the 1st and 5th centuries, the Catacombs of Milos are the only remaining catacombs in all of Greece. Wander through corridors carved out of volcanic rock. Then enter the halls where the tombs are located, sometimes decorated with paintings or inscriptions. A must when visiting Milos.
In the evening, watch the sunset from the island’s capital, Plaka. Its cobbled streets, white houses and extraordinary light make for a magical evening. Climb to the top of the Venetian castle for views of Milos and the sea.
Make your way to the Church of Korfiatissa, whose rounded dome is a testament to its Aegean origins. Place your bare feet on the warm stones of the forecourt. As the sun slowly sets over the sea, islands and boats, you’ll be treated to a sensational spectacle.
Dinner with local specialties is served in the chora.
Breakfast included. Lunch and dinner on your own.
Overnight in Milos.
