It was here that Leto gave birth to the divine twins Apollo and Artemis. It was also here that the treasure of the League of Delos was stored, before being used to build the Acropolis in Athens. In Delos, almost 3 millennia of history pass before your eyes. Visit the archaeological museum to learn more about the site. Learn how to knead bread and watch local cheeses (xynotiro, tyrovolia, kopanisti and others) being made. Go fruit and vegetable picking. Taste the wines produced on the island and try to remember the names of the grape varieties and their characteristics (Assyrtiko, Athiri, Monemvasia, Malagouzia, Agiannitis and Mandilaria).
Here, you’ll understand the DNA of life on Mykonos, the daily lives of its inhabitants, and the ties that bind them to their land and their animals, whether sheep, chickens, horses, donkeys or rabbits.
